The Sheraton Maui's oceanfront luau is the evening most people mean when they search for a Ka'anapali sunset luau. Here is what the night includes and how to get a good seat.

What's included

A fresh flower lei (or substitute) at check-in, crafts and activities on the lawn, the imu ceremony as the kalua pig comes out of the earth oven, an all-you-can-eat Hawaiian buffet with alcoholic drinks for guests 21 and over, and Tihati Productions' "Maui Nui" show, which ends with a fire-knife dance. Seating and timing

Standard seating fills from the back; the VIP or preferred package puts you in the first rows and first in the buffet line. Reviewers are blunt about it: those at the back struggled to hear the show, while preferred-seat guests called the upgrade worth it. Check-in usually opens around 5 PM and the evening runs about three hours. Park in the resort structure and have the luau's code scanned at the grounds, or walk the beach path from elsewhere in Ka'anapali.
